    Giving Blogging Another Go

    Okay, so I haven’t been blogging on toob.no since I left for Australia in July 2008. Most of the reason for that was that I didn’t have a focus for my blog. It was a lot of random stuff I ended up posting on the blog, my plans of using it as a travel log/personal outlet was not really for me. So it faded away, and was revived again in August/September this year as a portfolio site. Now however, I’ve started to think that although the portfolio gives a peek into my design process and thoughts, I can’t justify posting longer write-ups of my process and thoughts on design-related topics – a portfolio is not the place for that. The result is this – blog.toob.no journal.toob.no.

    Is Infographics Relevant for Designers?

    The research into the field of information graphics (infographics) is important, and should be understood by all practitioners of visual communication and graphic design. Infographics is defined as a way of visually communicating complex information quickly and clearly to an audience, for example through signs, symbols, graphs, instruction manuals or maps (Gomez-Palacio, B. & Vit A. 2009). Although the end result is essentially a graphic or an image, there are some key differences from creating a pretty picture to creating an infographic that actually works. These differences are mainly in regard to the design’s purpose being effectively conveying data or information.
