Working on my latest project, I’ve discovered a new plugin for WordPress called Flutter. Basically, it simplifies the use of Custom Fields in WordPress, making it easier for clients that don’t have the technical know-how or understanding of any kind of code or the structure of the CMS to use, and maintain the website that I deliver.
So far, it’s been both a blessing and a curse, since the plugin is poorly documented and fairly new. This limits the resources available out there, but I still managed to find some to get me on my way :)
I will try to share some of my experiences with the plugin as well as some code snippets later on. So far it’s looking good, and the Admin panel for the client is clean, without any obstructions and I’ve set ground rules and required fields that makes for a consistent look through the site – making me comfortable that the site will maintain it’s design, even after I’m done with it.
WordPress is one step closer to being pure gold! And I’m sure as hell implementing Flutter on my portfolio!

I recently got an job to redesign the web pages for a company in Norway while home on holidays from University. “Sweet!”, I thought. I delivered a quote based on estimated time for prototyping, visual design, coding and implementation into WordPress, my platform of choice in content management. You can say whatever you want about that, but for the scope and size of this site it is more than good enough. But that’s not what I’m going to write about now.
While doing my initial research in regards to the technology I was going to use, I found that the normal work flow and weapons of choice really didn’t cut it as this project has a tight timeframe. So, I started looking around and came across BlueprintCSS. I’ve seen it before, but never really used it as I thought it looked a bit complicated, and I preferred coding my own CSS. Boy, was I wrong.
